I was in standard 5 when I first met my best friend, Maya. I still remember that day as if it was yesterday. It was Math period and I was bored out of my mind. I hated math and was horrible at it. As I glared out of the window, frustrated, I saw a small vehicle landing behind the bushes and out of my sight. I looked around my class wondering if anyone else saw it too. Thankfully, I could see that everyone else around me was too busy with Math to look out of the window. When I looked back out of the window towards the ground, I saw an alien creature peeping out of the bushes. I was quite excited, wondering what exactly was that creature. I eagerly waited for the break as I wished to investigate the mystery of that strange critter. As soon as the bell rang, I took my tiffin and dashed out of the classroom, wishing to solve the mystery of the peeping creature and its vehicle. I went towards the bush where I saw that vehicle land and that alien peep. There under the bushes, I saw a very small but very advanced-looking vehicle. I quickly ran around the bush, trying to find the critter which was peeping by the bush.
I ran around the playground, trying to find it. I soon heard a whimpering noise near the Mango tree. I looked around it to see the small creature. It was really very small , purple in color with small beady eyes , small thin lips and a long, triangular face. I was quite frightened due to its shape and size, but knew I could overtake it in strength due to me being larger. It got very frightened when it saw me looking at it. The critter tried to run away, but I was quick to catch it and keep it in my pocket. I quickly sat under the Mango tree and took the creature out of my pocket after making sure that no one could see me. The creature looked really frightened of me and I felt quite bad. I quickly opened my tiffin and fed the little beast my chocolate while assuring the creature that I meant it no harm. The creature looked at me with suspicion, but decided to eat the chocolate. I gently asked its name and whether it knew English. I am Maya of Ayag land. Nice to meet you, friend, said the little creature in a reedy voice. I was overjoyed as the critter, Maya called me her friend. I asked her whether I could keep her in my bag while I studied and then take her home. She agreed readily. I quickly darted back to my class with Maya in my bag as the bell rang to mark the end of the break. I eagerly awaited the end of my school as I wished to take my back home. As soon as school ended, I hurried towards my cycle and quickly went back home. I ran to my room as soon as I reached home. There I quickly opened the zip of my bag and took Maya out. She looked quite disoriented due to my quick movement. Maya told me that she was a Ramenia and was sent to help the first person who would treat her kindly. Which I realized was me. We bonded within the first few days. It was a good thing that she could fit in my pocket as everywhere I went, she followed. She became my companion for everything.
She had many talents, she could sing well, glow in the dark, was good at math, and could even fly. I was grateful for her talent in Math as that was one subject I was dreadful at. Whenever I did my math homework, she assisted me with the questions I wasn’t able to solve. She even tutored me in math so I could become better. After a few months of being mentored by Maya, I became an ace at Math. I don’t fear math anymore. I have also become more confident as I know that Maya is always with me. From the day I met Maya, she has been my best-kept secret and my biggest companion. I hope that me and Maya always stay together.
